DIY Diaper cake

In the land of diaper cake crafting, there are three subsets. (Ha! Seriously, there is a diaper cake crafting land.) The first subset is the ‘individually rolled diapers’ cake. As the name suggests, each diaper is carefully rolled into a tube, somehow bound together to each other and formed miraculously into a beautiful tiered cake. Then there’s the “diapers not rolled individually” cake. As this name suggests, the diapers are typically bound together in harmony usually in a spiral pattern and then stacked together in graduated unison to create a beautifully tiered cake. Finally, there’s the “diapers sculpted into other things” cake. These cakes are the diaper cakes that win prizes and bring peace to warring nations. Not really, however they are truly amazing. This golf bag diaper cake,  this tricycle, this train, and this giraffe (GIRAFFE?! What is this diaper madness?!) are just a few of these awe-inspiring diaper sculptures! I bow down to you, wizard crafter, as you have defied the laws of physics.

Here are a few of the diaper cakes I’ve made befitting of the 2nd subset I have mentioned above.

Cargo non-embargo! – Men’s cargo shorts upcycled into a reversible bag

These were my hubby’s cargo shorts. Sure, they had some good laughs, a couple of capers, a story for the campfire. Overall, good times had.

???????????????????????????????

Then one day, they had a falling out. Actually, my hubby’s backside fell out. Needless to say, they parted ways.

???????????????????????????????

Like the dentist’s niece in Finding Nemo, I was like “GIMME! GIMME! GIMME!”

Then this materialized!

Tissue holder for the Sneezy McSneezerson

My baby sister, who is the biggest supporter of my blog, has the sneezies. In the last several years she has developed allergies to many things. Thus, she is prone to hyper sneezing. I feel for her, since half the year I’m using some kind of allergy medication with the letter “D” attached to the end of it. Guess it runs in the family!

In appreciation for the support and encouragement for my blog, I decided I would make this tissue holder I found on Pinterest. Here’s what I came up with.

I did have to make some modifications though because I wanted to use these strips of fabric that I originally intended for something else that has been long since forgotten.
